The number 100 marks a remarkable journey that Trinity – Cartier’s iconic jewelry model – has embarked on.
Today, when mentioning Cartier’s Trinity in its early days, people still recall a legend exactly 100 years ago. In 1924, Louis Cartier designed a ring inspired by the dream of French poet and playwright Jean Cocteau about the belts of the Earth. Thus, Trinity Cartier was born, with three circles of yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold intricately intertwined. Later, Jean Cocteau wore two Trinity rings on his little finger, creating a stylish signature of the time.

Trinity has embarked on a century-long journey, and the ancient verses of Jean Cocteau about Trinity Cartier still evoke the same emotions: “Cartier, who holds, subtle magician, the moon in pieces on the sun in thread.”
The poetic meaning can be felt: Cartier is like a magician who has created a ring connecting the moon and the sun with just a thread. It’s a poetic expression conveying romanticism and rich imagination about the design of the Trinity ring. Three circles of yellow, rose, and white gold are skillfully combined to create a ring. Each circle symbolizes loyalty, friendship, and love. But when each person wears Trinity on their finger, they may think of the three most important things in their life.
A century ago, poet and playwright Jean Cocteau wore 2 Trinity rings on his little finger, igniting a groundbreaking symbol.
In the years since its inception, Trinity’s unique design has captivated beauty lovers, including a long list of famous names that continue to this day. Screen and fashion legend Grace Kelly is one of the famous figures associated with Trinity’s image. Princess Diana, actor Alain Delon, and actress Romy Schneider are among the illustrious names who fell in love with this design. More recently, Cartier has invited some of its global ambassadors such as Jisoo, Paul Mescal, Jackson Wang, Yara Shahidi, and Labrinth as new faces, showcasing contemporary vitality in Trinity’s centennial celebration campaign.

After 100 years, Trinity rings still maintain the beauty of the renowned 3-in-1, while moving into a new era with a unique and unparalleled design of three square rings.
In 2024, to commemorate this important milestone, Cartier introduces a new design, a groundbreaking step promising to continue Trinity’s heritage with more brilliance in the future. It’s a design of three square rings united in the Trinity’s graceful form. Still with yellow, rose, and white gold, Trinity now has a magical square shape.
